Welcome to my new newsletter…
Golf & Hypnotherapy
It’s the Open weekend and Golf is on most sports fans and players minds! Its been on my mind to given my interest in sports performance, health and fitness. I have been working on some new scripts and sessions which in practice will serve as templates to be adapted to my individual client and their own specific goals and aspirations. Shortly I will be holding a number of ‘come and meet me’ sessions in some of the North Wests most prestigious golf clubs. I will be offering free initial consultations and working with golfers to improve their game through the most important part of a golfers body… their minds…! read on…
Hypnotherapy is a very potent tool that has been used by top golfers over the years, including Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus and many others. In fact, Woods has spoken highly of the way hypnotherapy sessions have helped improve his golf game, and Arnold Palmer once said that 90% of golf is played “from the shoulders up.” Both Palmer and Woods have said that when they concentrate primarily on their minds rather than their bodies, they achieve the most significant improvements in their golf game.
To illustrate this some golfers self-talk is negative or defeating. When they see themselves close to the water, they tell themselves “let me get my water ball”. In other words, they are telling themselves that the ball is going to go into the water and they are not going to be able to recuperate it, so they use an old ball which they would not care about if it were gone. The same thing happens when they see a sand bunker, they visualize the ball going into the sand bunker and the difficulty it takes to get it out successfully. So, here again they are programming themselves for failure.
Research going back to the 1950’s evidence bases mental rehearsal and visualisation in sport as firing the same neural pathways as when actually performing and positive, good outcome rehearsal in the mind programmes golfers (and other sportsmen and women) for success!

Complementary Cancer Care
Initial feedback to this service has been good from both clients and from doctors and other health care professionals. That this approach is founded in an evidence based and audited programme of care has certainly impressed and I am very hopeful of a growth in uptake as I develop a service that I have a profound personal interest and drive in. I will be producing some relaxation sessions in this context some of which I will offer up as free downloads in the next few weeks.
If you wish to know more do please contact me.
Radio
Last week I was on Radio Lancashire. I enjoyed it very much and am finding the ‘live’ context great fun! Yes it’s a little challenging but once the shows start the nerves go and I like the spontaneity and banter on air. I am looking forward to more appearances and will keep you all posted.
Exerpts from the show will be coming online over the next week…
