Welcome to my December Newsletter…

Whalley Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic

Regular readers will know that I am working with Dr Mary Adams on a ‘D2’ programme. This will be a specific Diabetes Type 2 programme of intervention utilising the multi-disciplinary resources available in the Whalley Clinic. I will be presenting more information on this programme in the new year.

However today I want to relay the wonderful positive response I had from Jane, the proprietor of the clinic, in my discussion with her last week. Jane impressed as being committed to building therapeutic team in her practice that delivers standards of excellence and which works together to the clients benefit. I was particularly keen to emphasise my own ‘complementary’ rather than ‘alternative’ approach to practice. It is in my view essential to complement conventional medicine and recognised interventions like physiotherapy with the Mind Management and Hypnotherapy I provide.

Within this context and being mindful of the clinics core business I will be striving to offer services not only with regard to the regular business areas of my practice like weight loss, phobias, anxiety etc but also in the sporting context.

Sports Performance is an area of interest personally for me and I see potential to develop this aspect in Whalley as well as addressing the psychological aspects of injury and even ‘retirement’ from sport.

Keep an eye open for updates!

Be careful what you visualise!

I posted a blog recently about visualisation and the debate around process and outcome. Basically asking a person wishing to lose weight to see themselves with all the weight gone; asking a person with a phobia to see themselves coping with ease in a situation that previously would have tested them to the limit; asking a recovering athlete to see themselves back at their peak…. etc. Well whilst there is some merit in focusing on outcome, the suggestion that adjusting visualisation to process rather than outcome, has been received very well by current clients. Visualisation of the gradual, stage by stage changes one might be making in order to achieve the longer term outcome appears to be more accessible… easier to do. Feedback informs practice to a degree and certainly I have modified my work accordingly.

Group Sessions

I now have a number of clients who have registered an interest in joining group sessions. Strangely all are on the Fylde! What does that say? Anyway the option to go forward into the New Year working with Mind Management and Hypnotherapy techniques in a group context is looking now as a runner! If you are interested in this option do let me know…

Webinars

‘Video Conferencing’… ‘Online Presentation’… Well ok. No me neither!?!?! I had never really looked at this online option as relevant to me! However I stand corrected!

Basically I am considering the option of a live online presentation that you would be able to access through your laptop or smart phone. Its free and easy to sign up and watch. It strikes me as a way to get new ideas and services across both to existing and potential clients. The type of articles I post on my Blog for example, such as the one re Visualisation I refer to above, could be an interesting and thought provoking subject for such a presentation.

At this stage I am sounding you out! If this prospect does interest you do let me know!

New Year New You

…It’s that time of year again! The time where it becomes very difficult to book in! If you are thinking to book sessions as a new client, or as an existing client, or if you are thinking to return please do get your bookings made now.

I have promotions going out shortly and history tells me they work especially well at this time of the year… January and February are always very busy!

Web Site Changes!

Please do keep an eye on my website! There are new postings on the Blog and we have just changed some of the pages. There is a new Sport Performance page and other changes are due.
