I was thrilled to see the following article today:

“Have the Danes cracked childhood obesity?”

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-29755469

It’s wonderful to see that the doctors are taking the matter seriously and have developed a system where the whole family is involved. Drastic lifestyle changes must be nigh on impossible for a child alone, who has everything provided by their parents. I hope the British medical teams are taking note – the statistics say 70% of children managed to maintain a healthy weight which is incredible. Hopefully their new habits will become the ‘norm’ and they will live long, happy, healthy lives, passing on their knowledge to their own children. What a fabulous thought for the future. I believe this holistic approach has the best possible chance of success and would love to see it emulated here.

As an Early Years Practitioner, I never felt comfortable trying to teach very young children the importance of eating healthily and looking after ourselves, whilst being morbidly obese myself. I always felt like a terrible hypocrite. I suppose it goes back to October’s blog and ‘practising what I preach’.
There have been times when straight-talking three year olds have innocently asked me “Have you got a baby in your tummy?”!!

Thanks to Russell’s amazing programme, they don’t ask that any more!

Talking of being heavy:

Do you know: I used to weigh the same as Arnold Schwarzenegger PLUS a car tyre PLUS a bald eagle!! -gulp-

But I have now lost weight that is equal to: a bale of hay AND a microwave oven! Unbelievable!

Have a go yourself – a bit of fun: http://www.hungryhealthyhappy.com/how-much-weight-have-you-lost-50lbs-is-equivalent-to-abale-
of-hay/

And finally, on my last blog, I claimed that Russell’s hypnotherapy has helped me to lose weight and also made me taller! How is this possible?

Is it simply that he has me feel so good about myself, I now walk with shoulders back, head held high and therefore seem taller than my five-feet-nothing?? Well, yes, he has, but it’s not that. Could it be that now my poor knees and ankles are not carrying around over nineteen stones, I can wear high heels and therefore really do appear taller??

That’s also true, but no, it’s not that either. I’ll tell you how I know it to be true – when I am in my kitchen, I can reach the top shelf of my cupboard easily, whereas before I would use my ‘grabby claw’ -bought as a joke from my Mum-
(who also had ‘duck-disease’) but an extremely handy gadget I used to use daily!

Also, when cleaning, I can now reach the window sill behind my sink and I don’t have to stand back and watch as an unwilling volunteer cleans it for me, then puts everything back in the wrong place!

If I can reach these things that I used to struggle with, I must be taller mustn’t I? Have you worked it out? It’s simply because when I go to reach across for something, my belly no longer gets in the way!

Wonderful! Either that or my arms were lengthened during hypnosis!

Until next time: Walk tall – whatever your height!
